My name is Detlef Eckert. I have 30 years' experience in digital policies as a senior European Commission official, a manager with Microsoft in Europe and with Huawei Technologies Ltd at their HQ Shenzhen/China. During my career I have developed expertise in policy making, gained leadership skills, and have learned to perceive the world from different perspectives. I like to think out of the box whilst remaining realistic of what I can implement.
If I were to give one advice to the new generation of managers, policy makers and researchers then this: Occasionally look at the system you are in from the outside. This may be a challenge but rewarding. It avoids to see the world from one angle only, like the saying ‘when you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail’. So, step out of your comfort zone and exploit different viewpoints. This is the spirit of this Website. It aims to be thought-provoking.
I published this Website on 20 June, which is still in a development phase. More articles are to come shortly. So, bear with me a while and in the meantime please send me your feedback.
You can find me on LinkedIn under my name.
